Do you have any questions about our products or services? We have the answers! See below for the answers to some common questions or reach out to our team for more information.
We understand shipping can be expensive and the products themselves are heavy. We want our customers to know that we try to keep our products affordable. It is for this reason that we don’t include any shipping costs in our product pricing. Freight costs are separate and will vary based on the weight of the shipment and the distance it needs to travel.
Our standard carriers for web orders are UPS, FedEx and Canada Post. If your order weighs more than 120 kg, reach out to us for alternative carrier options. Please note that free shipping is offered for most of our electric Komo mills.

Free shipping is offered on most of our electric Komo Mills.
All our food-grade products are sold in their whole kernel form to preserve their nutritional value. These whole kernels can be freshly milled into flour with domestic mills available for purchase on our web store. Oat flakers are also available. View our selection of Mills & Flakers to learn more.
With the number of products and sizes available for each product, it’s difficult for our retail stores to maintain stock for all of our products in all sizes. For this reason, most locations shown on our “Where to Buy” list carry a select number of products in the 750g size.
While many of our products can be used as seed, we are not a certified seed supplier. All Fieldstone Organics products are sold as “food”. Though most of our products will germinate and are suitable for seed, we are unable to guarantee germination rates for a variety of reasons. For example, a rainy fall season can result in pre-germination in the field.
Some crops such as barley, einkorn, emmer, spelt, and oats also require the use of an impact dehuller in removing their inedible outer hull. This process can result in damage to the germ, reducing the germination rate. It is important to note that oats and barley are planted in the hull. Contact our office for this seed as our food-grade oats and barley are not suitable for seeding purposes.
While our core business is human food, we extract the broken kernels, legumes, and seeds as part of our cleaning process. These are then blended into unformulated chicken scratch and can be purchased in 20 kg bags.
Chicken scratch is also available by the metric tonne (1000 kg) in a bulk tote or on a pallet of 50 x 20 kg bags. Contact us for more information.
As a BC company, most of our products are grown in British Columbia. That said, we will source from certified organic growers across Western Canada as needed.
We are proud to offer a broad selection of lentils as each type offers slightly different characteristics and flavours.
Green lentils are the largest lentil, take the longest to cook, and become quite soft.
Black lentils and French green lentils cook quite quickly and maintain their shape when cooked, making them great on top of salads and in soups. Black lentils are slightly stronger in flavour than French green lentils.
Red lentils are the fastest cooking lentils and are known for breaking down well. They’re a great addition to soups and sauces as they add protein and act as a thickening agent. Red lentils are quite mild in flavour, making them suitable for many dishes.

We are unable to guarantee any of our products as “Gluten Free” as all our products are cleaned and packaged in a facility that handles wheat. While procedures are in place to avoid cross contamination, there continues to be a risk of gluten contamination, even in naturally gluten-free crops such as buckwheat and oats.
Hybridization is a natural process that has existed for thousands of years. It involves crossing species in a natural environment to produce a plant that can be more resistant to disease or contain characteristics unique to its cultural environment. Genetic modification, on the other hand, is not allowed under the Canadian Organic standards. Genetic modification is when the genetic material of an organism has been altered through genetic engineering.
Fieldstone Organics is proud to provide wholesale and commercial orders for organic whole grains, ancient grains, and heritage grains to customers across Canada.
