Ultimate cereal can be enjoyed as a soaked or cooked cereal. Flax seeds when soaked release a soluble mucilaginous that becomes gelatinous when mixed with water. When soaked, flax seeds become more digestible and release certain nutrients more efficiently. They are an excellent source of dietary fiber, providing a boost to digestive health. Flax seeds are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, this blend serves as a versatile breakfast option. Whether you chose to soak the cereal and blend it with your favorite milk, yogurt and sweetener or make a larger batch in your slow cooker or instant pot this cereal is sure to satisfy.
Cooking Instructions
Cooking Instructions:
• A single serving is 3 tablespoons of dry cereal
• To cook cereal from a dry form, place on your stovetop, bring to a boil and simmer for 40 – 50 minutes. Use a 3:1 ratio of water to cereal. If the dry
• cereal is soaked in water for 4 – 8 hours before it will reduce the cooking time. Add slightly more water at the time of cooking.
• Ultimate cereal can also be batch cooked in an instant pot or slow cooker. See our recipe for details.
• If the cereal is pulsed in your blender just prior to cooking it will cook slightly faster. We recommend doing this just before so as not to lose any of its
whole grain goodness
• At the time of serving, add your favorite milk, yogurt, sweetener, nuts, fruit, seeds and spices to create your own nutritious whole breakfast
Soaking Instructions:
• A single serving is 3 tablespoons of dry cereal
• Ultimate cereal can be soaked in equal or more parts water, in the refrigerator for 24 hours – as you eat breakfast today, start soaking for tomorrow.
• At the time of serving, add your favorite milk, yogurt, sweetener, nuts, fruit, seeds and spices to create your own nutritious whole breakfast
How to Use
• As a soaked or cooked cereal this mixture makes a great breakfast that is sure to keep you full until lunch
• Once cooked or soaked Ultimate cereal can be added to bread and muffin recipes for added fibre and texture
• Ultimate Cereal pairs well with yogurt, nuts and a variety of fruits. We recommend trying it with different fresh,
in season fruits or in the winter months try adding some dried, frozen or preserved fruit.
Storage & Shelf Life
Ultimate Cereal should be stored in a cool, dry place. Ideally, 15 degrees Celsius or lower. If in doubt, store in fridge or freezer.
