Fieldstone Organics Buckwheat in the Hull is cleaned to food grade however its uses in the culinary world would generally see it milled into flour. Brown buckwheat flour has a stronger flavor than the flour from buckwheat groats. Once milled the ‘hull’ can be sifted to remove some of the ground buckwheat hull.

While our organic buckwheat in the hull is not considered ‘seed grade’ we typically test for germination and it is often used as a cover crop. It helps suppress weeds, improves soil health, and attracts pollinators, making it a valuable addition to sustainable farming practices.

Cooking Instructions

1. Mill into fine flour
2. To obtain a lighter colour buckwheat flour with less of the hull a fine sieve can be used to separate some of the hull from the buckwheat.

The flour can also be used with the hull for a stronger flavor and more fiber
